Design Of An Open Staircase

Architecture you would never build today. Most likely the cost would exceed the rest of the home.

I don’t shoot many scenes like these but I did love this staircase. So much so I have several other angles and finishes in progress.

When shooting this it is not possible to have the entire room in the photograph. Even wide lens (like this) will not work in the limited space. However, for me a unique feature like this I can work with.

Snowy Egret Walking Around

I had forgotten these shots. One day I had purposely photographed a few different birds walking between different flocks. Like they could not decide who they wanted to be with.

The reason it struck me was because the wandering birds were the little guys. Each flock was of bigger birds. Like this smaller Snowy, moving between groups of Spoonbills. And they walked. There was a pretty good amount of open space between each group. The larger birds flew between groups.

The last shot says it all. Not sure where to go.

Head Shots, Small, Medium, And Large

These are the classic  Alligator shots around here. When all else fails, photograph an Alligator.  Easy to find.

Cottonmouth

They are also known as a Water Moccasin. For a snake they can grow large,  35 in (90cm) and occasionally 71 in (180cm). These are venomous snakes, so a really large one can be fatal.

Around marshes and swamps they are common, and thankfully shy. We surprised this one while driving down a dirt marsh road. He jumped almost straight up into the dead leaves.

The angle was not great for a shot. I didn’t want to get in front of him or ask him to pose differently. We took a few shots and went on our way. After all, he was there first.

Shooting in a crowd, and getting a worthwhile image can be tough. Here I tried to focus on this single bird preening.

The other birds with him were the issue. They could make the shot work, or do something to mess it up completely.

They never really moved so it was OK. The shutter speed was slow to get a wide f stop for keeping them all in focus.
