Boynton House Visit
The old Boynton house, a cattle farm, is being eaten by the surrounding trees and brush. Big Live Oaks and the Spanish Moss will probably hide it completely by next summer.
It still is a beautiful house, even after being empty for 100+ years.
The property is about 4 miles down a dirt road, then a little less than a 1/2 mile down a dirt track.
When we stop by I usually shoot both B&W and color. These images were taken in a custom in-camera setup for .jpg monochrome.

Nothing in a straight line, stones all unique, in short beautiful chaos.
The End, Moon Flower
It doesn’t take long for the big flowers to fold and wither of the vine.
Per ‘the Google’;
- Nocturnal Unfurling: As dusk approaches (around 6 to 8 p.m.), the bud rapidly untwists and opens within just a few minutes into a large, 5- to 8-inch wide, trumpet-shaped white blossom.
- Single-Night Lifespan: Each flower stays open all night—attracting nocturnal pollinators like moths and bats with its sweet fragrance—and collapses like a parachute by morning light.

Monochrome Monday, Early Swamp Scenes
Early morning fog rolling across swamps and marsh land.
This is from a stretch of dirt road leading into the large marshes in the ACE Basin. Over the last 10 years the trees have died creating a ‘ghost forest’ here and all throughout the basin.

A Dark Feeling
I read the news, it seemed appropriate as I created this.
Most of the finish work here was done in DxO Silver Efex. I kept no notes on this (which is not uncommon) but I did use a film preset as a foundation.
Saint George, South Carolina – Monochrome Monday
Shot using the old Olympus 40-150r lens. The plastic fantastic is the perfect, imperfect, lens for these photographs.

Snowy Egret, Tidal Salt Marsh
This was shot in a troubled location. When the water, tide, is shallow there is always action here. It can be further down the cut and too far to photograph. Birds will also come in close to the dike which is great.
However, this salt marsh is fed directly by the ocean, and it’s due east which means glaring morning sun. Sometimes you can get something, usually it’s B&W.
