Taken at old Magnolia Cemetery.
Bald Eagle Leaving A Favorite Spot
This is a perch favored by local Bald Eagles.
At times there can be 2, a mated pair that nest nearby.
From this tree top they can look out over a large marsh as well as old plantation gardens, complete with a tourist or two who never notice them.
Peaceful Spot In The Middle Of Charleston
Taken down an alley, off the busiest street in Charleston. The site is maintained by the Unitarian Church of Charleston, originally built in 1774-1776 by the Society Of Dissenters.
There are a few benches where a person can sit, quiet, with the busy streets behind old buildings.
Barn Owlet
Only a few weeks old, and strange looking.
Looks Ridiculous, Alligator
I know, an apex predator, big teeth, etc.
But really, laying around dangling your toes in the water.
Cathedral Of St. John The Baptist (1)
The first cathedral was built in 1854 but it burned in the great Charleston fire of 1861. An enormous part of the city was destroyed. This building was started in 1890, completed in 1907.
The church is known for it’s rare Franz Mayer & Co. stained glass.
Like many of the Charleston churches, and there are many, the doors can usually be found open to the public. Sad, but not common anymore.
This is the first article in a series of photographs of this historic church.
Not Cooperating, Green Anole
With all the wildlife we have shot I would have thought this one would be so easy. Not even close.
I get close, he jumps to another bush.
Move around to get the other side, he drops down the arbor.
Next he lets me close, lures me in… suddenly spins to the other side.
I gave up. A tiny lizard is harder than a big Alligator.
