Towards the back of Magnolia Cemetery, Charleston, South Carolina is the high end district. Both a marsh and lagoon frame out the land. So of course the wealthy families bought this land first.

Every symbol in funerary art work is included here somewhere. There are Greek Urns, Roman Garlands and Wreaths, even the three steps up to a coffin has a purpose.

A famous Russian – American sculpture was hired for this project. This monument was extremely expensive at the time.

The Boyce family were cotton exporters, and bankers.

Ker Boyce upon his death left endowments to the Orphan House Of Charleston and the College Of Charleston which lasted several generations. Considering the US Civil War was to start soon this was an important contribution to the future of Charleston.
