A Few White Birds

This is a pretty amazing sight. Me and a thousand Egrets. Not another human being for miles. Any sounds were drowned by a howling wind.

These Egrets were surrounded by marsh, getting much closer was not possible. Besides I really didn’t want to scare or intrude on their resting.

Spoonbills And Egrets Flocking

These photographs were taken as different groups of birds decided to move to a new corner of a marsh. Which was good for me since it was near where we were headed.

There was a lot of movement so image composition was not a consideration, or even a fleeting thought. I had a flock of large birds landing in front of me.

Of course they didn’t stay long, but I was still in sight of the next stop.

Above is a favorite here so if the water is low they will ultimately land here. It makes a nice wide shot of bird flocks and I have photographed this before.

Another Odd Couple, Egret And Spoonbill

I’m not sure who was following who here.

The Spoonbill didn’t seemed at all interested in the jumping and flapping fishing technique of the Snowy Egret.

He watched him once or twice, but for the most part ignored all the thrashing around.

Mating Display, Great Egret

The Great Egrets are in full display. The plumage and mating dance is like nothing else I have ever seen.

Each bird does the same ritual moves, but they all have their own moves. Which is probably why I have photographed this hundreds of times.

This image is the primary display of the breeding plumage. Stretching and dancing are also part of the display.

How could a little girl Egret resist.
