Crowd At The Watering Hole

This marsh was close to dry. It was lower than anyone I know had ever seen it. Fish were casualties now. The local birds who relied on the marshes all crowded into the shallows and pools.

They did not get along well for very long. It’s called competition.

The migrating birds love the low water. It provides a food source on the long trip. Any year round residents just moved from marsh to marsh.

Good news here was rain was forecast later that night and water was slowly moving through the swamps down to the marshes.

Couple A Storks

These two just made me smile. They were walking along like an old couple, not a care in the world. It was a Sunday stroll.

To add a little more interest they kept turning and staring at me. All they needed was a camera.

I didn’t make them nervous, never once did they look to be afraid. I wasn’t in their space either.

Maybe they liked my hat.

Marshland Gathering

This was a special gathering. Most all of the marsh birds were together, crowded into a small open marsh pond.

I believe this was because of the burnings about a mile off. The smoke and smell was still heavy here.

Spring here is a time when the dry reeds and brush is burned off in a controlled setting. It is done using the theory that lightning strikes have been doing this here since forever.

It can be shocking to see how quickly the land revives. Yes some trees are damaged, but most are fine, or better than fine.

These birds were never in danger, the areas are tightly controlled. besides the fact water is everywhere, and they fly.

If You Keep Your Head…

If you can keep your head when all about you  are losing theirs…
If You Keep Your Head...
If You Keep Your Head…

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you…

If You Keep Your Head...
If You Keep Your Head…

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting…

If You Keep Your Head...
If You Keep Your Head…

Perhaps you should ask a few questions…

Just sayin…
