Can’t Figure Out How To Stop, Wood Stork

This was very funny. I have been meaning to publish this for a week or so… here it is.

Think of a bird flying full speed into a shallow pond of water. Oh yeah, the bird is almost as big as you are. And like you he doesn’t want to fall on his head, in the water.

And… momentum is pushing him forward, tripping all along the way.  He must have covered half a mile ( .8 k) trying to stop.

Click, or double tap, any image below to view the gallery… I tried to cut down the number of images but had to keep these.

Give him credit for keeping on his feet, just kept tripping and skipping until he slowed.

This is not a full adult Wood Stork, but still none of the others have this problem LOL.

Loud, Chaotic, Beautiful, And A Rare Sight

Something set them off and they all took to the air at the same time. It was deafening and amazing, there was at least a thousand taking off at the same time.

What makes this even more special are the mix of birds and how not that long ago this might never have happened.

Wood Storks were endangered and almost gone, Roseate Spoonbills would stay in Central / South America, and some Egrets were hunted to almost extinction.

Yet here they were, all together in front of my camera.

I have added images to a gallery to allow large detailed viewing.
